The quickest way to improve your customer service? Smile. That’s right. Whether in person, or on the phone (your smile “shines through” the phone line), your smile will, as they say, light up the room.

How many times have you experienced an uncaring employee, whether in person or on the phone, who seemed indifferent and wasn’t smiling? Imagine how much better you would have felt about that person and their company if they simply greeted you with a smile.

There’s a famous Chinese proverb that I include in the front of my book SMILE:

When a customer enters your business or office, greet them promptly and politely – just as you would greet a guest in your home.
